Lap Counting

Task highlights:

  • Catch all the action up close as you record each boat passing through the gate.
  • Know who is winning and publish interim lap results every 6 hours.

Dock Marshal

Task highlights:​​

  • Control the dock area where sailors access their dinghies and carry out respective crew changes.
  • Assist the race juries (on-the-water observers) when penalties are given to dinghy crew.

Race Office

Task highlights:

  • Greet and register the teams and crews.
  • Maintain the physical Notice Board.
  • Maintain and check lap lists intermittently for team captains’ sign-off.
  • Issue buoyancy aids
  • Act as first point of contact to race teams and volunteers. 
  • Help coordinate emergency responses.

Safety Boat Driver

Task highlights:​

  • Patrol the race course with a safety boat carrying one driver and one assistant.  
  • Drivers can sign up with an assistant; dinghy rescue training may be offered.  
  • All volunteers must attend a safety briefing before the event.  
  • Drivers must hold HKSAR PVOL; prior safety boat driving experience preferred.  
  • Both driver and assistant must be able to swim.

Race Village

Task highlights:

  • Assist with drink service at the F&B tent (Adults only)
  • Assist in village area / supervise children’s games (e.g. Giant Jenga)

Site Setup

Task Highlights:

  • Get behind the scenes and help with the site set up from Tuesday to Friday before the event. 
  • Help set the vibe for the village with installing decorations, small vendor marquees, fairy lights and more.

Site Pack-up

Task Highlights:

  • Help with tear down and site reset.
  • Clear decorations, tables, chairs and marquees and help return the boatyard to operational mode. No special skills required—just a can-do spirit.
